Best Nightlife Spots in Auckland

Auckland is a beautiful city; the largest and most densely populated in New Zealand.

It draws visitors from all walks of life, including corporate travellers as well as backpackers and students spending an entire gap year in NZ.

Auckland is rated 9th on the Economist Intelligence Unit’s list of the World’s Most Liveable Cities, and one of the reasons for this is the diverse and satisfying night life.

Now, now. Don’t be fooled by the theme of our website!

Yes, Auckland has a thriving red light district, but there’s plenty of ‘SFW’ night time thrills too. Our city is home to a number of excellent bars, restaurants and clubs.

We’ve rounded up a list of Auckland’s top nightlife spots…

Viaduct Harbour

Viaduct Harbour

The Viaduct Harbour is wedged on the waterfront of the Auckland CBD and is home to gourmet eateries, stunning bars and a humming night life. This area is great for eating out and dining with friends, family, or a hot date.

There are around 30 enticing bars and other establishments in the Harbour. Head on over to Soul or Goldfinch for cocktails and wine. Or if you need a beer, check out the Irish pubs: Danny Doolans and O’Hagans.

The area starts to get busy as early as 5pm, especially on Fridays when the place is heaving with after-work drinks. Saturdays can get pretty rowdy, too.

Auckland CBD

Auckland CBD

You might not associate a central business district with nightlife. But it’s not just office and finance in the Auckland CBD; this central district is packed with quirky bars, clubs and eateries.

Federal Street is a good choice for a drink after work. There’s the many restaurants on and around Sale Street if you are starting to get peckish. And if you want to dance the night away? Head on over to the High Street and Fort Lane where things start to get louder and rowdier.

Kingsland

Kingsland

Kingsland is one of the major inner city suburbs of Auckland and it has a nice selection of bars. This area is famous for its ability to attract the punters whenever there is a rugby game on. The packed crowds makes for an amazing atmosphere, and let’s face it — most games have happy endings given the inevitable domination of the All Blacks!

Check out the giant screens of the Kingslander bar for an authentic NZ revelling-in-sports experience.

Britomart

Britomart

Britomart is a lively precinct located on Auckland’s waterfront. It is popular in the daytime as a shopping destination, but holds its own after sunset with a smattering of popular restaurants and a few good bars.

The highlight of the late evening entertainment is undoubtedly the 1885 bar. This spot has some of New Zealand’s best live DJs playing each night from Wednesday through Saturday. It’s set across multiple floors with a chic modern vibe. Those of you who arrived on this site looking to meet the fairer sex will have a lot of young eligible women to choose from with a trip here on the weekend.

Wynyard Quarter & North Wharf

Wynyard Quarter & North Wharf

Another of Auckland’s popular waterfront precincts, the North Wharf promenade has a strip of ten restaurants and bars. It is just a short walk from the Viaduct Harbour.

This isn’t somewhere to dance the night away. It’s a relaxing bar atmosphere where you can unwind with a few drinks looking out on the majestic wharf or back over the gently illuminated Auckland City.

Look out for 16 Tun, a popular craft beer spot in the Wynyard Quarter, and Jack Tar, a lively drinking hole with a lovely alfresco courtyard.

There is also the nearby Silo Park for night markets in the summer months, and an open air cinema that has shows on most Friday evenings.

Welcome to the Auckland Sex Guide

Welcome to Red Light Auckland!

We are excited to bring you the latest and hottest adult events taking place around Auckland.

The Red Light Network has been serving Australia, Ireland and the United States for two years now.

Initially conceived as an adult service provider directory for Sydney and Melbourne, it’s our mission to connect local punters to the best brothels, escorts, agencies and massage providers in their local areas.

As we quickly spread across Australia, we found ourselves asking: “Why not New Zealand?”

In many cases, New Zealand prostitution laws are more progressive than they are in Australia. The sex industry is thriving and is very well regulated. Attitudes are liberal, positive and — we think — a long way ahead of the rest of the world.

So, here we are!

We are looking forward to connecting you to Auckland’s hottest and most erotic service providers as our first foray in to New Zealand’s adult scene.
